US Targets Rwandan Military & Officials for Backing M23 Rebels in DRC

The United States has imposed sanctions on Rwandan military and top officials for their support of the M23 rebel group in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The move comes as tensions continue to escalate between the DRC and its neighbor Rwanda over the M23 conflict.
The US Treasury Department announced the sanctions, targeting Rwanda's Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, as well as the Rwandan Defense Forces and its Directorate of Military Intelligence. The sanctions freeze any US-based assets and prohibit American individuals and entities from doing business with the designated parties.
