Violent Unrest Overshadows Solemn Eid Celebrations in West Bank

Amid the somber mood of Eid, settler violence and land grabs have escalated tensions in the West Bank, casting a dark shadow over a time meant for peace and reflection.
The holy month of Ramadan has drawn to a close, and with it the joyous celebrations of Eid al-Fitr. Yet in the West Bank, the usual festivities have been muted by a surge in violence and unrest. Settler attacks and land seizures have become disturbingly common, marring a period that is typically one of community and reflection for Palestinians.
Across the occupied territories, the past week has seen a sharp uptick in clashes between Palestinian residents and Israeli settlers. In the village of Hawara, south of Nablus, dozens of settlers reportedly rampaged through the streets, vandalizing homes and businesses. Similar incidents were reported in other parts of the West Bank, with Israeli security forces often accused of standing by or even aiding the settlers in their attacks.
