Chamel Abdulkarim faces felony and arson charges after setting fire to a California warehouse, destroying $600M in property. He compared himself to famed arsonist Luigi Mangione.
Chamel Abdulkarim, a 29-year-old employee, has been charged with several counts of felony and state arson after a massive fire destroyed a Kimberly-Clark paper products warehouse in Ontario, California, about an hour outside of Los Angeles. Authorities say Abdulkarim compared himself to the famed arsonist Luigi Mangione in a message to coworkers after setting the fire.
The blaze caused an estimated $600 million in damage, making it one of the costliest acts of arson in California's history. In a Friday press conference, officials detailed Abdulkarim's actions and the charges he now faces.
