Young Wrestler Executed for Role in Iran Protests

Teenage Iranian national wrestler Saleh Mohammadi was one of the first to be executed for alleged killings of police during anti-government protests, raising global outrage.
In a deeply troubling development, the Iranian government has carried out the execution of Saleh Mohammadi, a 21-year-old member of Iran's national wrestling team, for his alleged role in the killing of police officers during the ongoing anti-government protests sweeping the country. Mohammadi was one of three men, along with Mehdi Ghasemi and Saeed Davoudi, who were found guilty by the Iranian authorities of murdering two police officers.
The executions, reported by the semi-official news agency Tasnim, which is associated with Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have sparked global outrage and condemnation. Human rights groups and international observers have decried the trials as grossly unfair, with little evidence presented to support the charges against the young protesters.
