America Investigates EU, Canada, UK on Forced Labor Allegations

The US has launched a new trade probe to examine if allies are failing to prevent the import of goods made with forced labor, a growing global concern.
Washington - The United States government has announced a new trade investigation into the practices of some of its closest allies, including the European Union, Canada, and the United Kingdom, over allegations that they are failing to effectively block the import of goods made with forced labor.
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) said the probe will examine whether these countries are upholding their commitments under various trade agreements to prohibit the importation of goods produced with forced labor. This move comes as the issue of forced labor, particularly in supply chains linked to China, has drawn increased global attention and scrutiny.

U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai stated that the investigation will determine if America's partners are doing enough to combat this unethical practice.
