Anti-War Candidates Challenge Democrats on Iran, Midterms

As US tensions with Iran escalate, a new generation of progressive Democrats are pushing for an end to foreign wars and the abolition of ICE.
A new generation of progressive Democrats is posing an early test for the party establishment, pushing for radical changes to US foreign policy in the wake of rising tensions with Iran. Candidates like Nida Alla and Kat Abughazaleh are challenging traditional Democratic positions, calling for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and an end to the country's endless wars.
Alla, who is running for Congress in Illinois, says the Democratic party has been too beholden to military-industrial interests, leading to a perpetuation of disastrous foreign interventions. "We need to fundamentally rethink our approach to global affairs," she told reporters. "The status quo of endless war and unchecked aggression has to end."
