Bid to Halt Escalation: Ceasefire Proposals Reach US and Iran

Mediators push for immediate ceasefire to suspend hostilities between US and Iran, as threats of bombing loom. Negotiations aimed at complete peace agreement.
Mediators from Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey have circulated proposals for an immediate ceasefire to Washington and Tehran in an effort to halt the five-week-old war and prevent Donald Trump's threat to bomb Iran's power plants.
The proposals call for both sides to agree to suspend hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which would then be followed by a period of detailed negotiations intended to reach a more complete peace agreement.
