A tense confrontation broke out at an anti-Islam protest in New York City on Saturday, with both sides resorting to using potentially dangerous objects. The incident began when someone from the anti-Islam protest group associated with conservative influencer Jake Lang used pepper spray on a group of counterprotesters, according to Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
In response, a counterprotester then lit and threw a device containing nuts, bolts and screws at the protesting crowd, the police said.
