Columbia Student Detained After Agents Made False Claims

Columbia University accuses US immigration agents of lying to detain a student on campus, claiming it was part of a missing person search when it was not.
Columbia University has accused US immigration agents of making false claims in order to detain a student on the university's campus. According to the school's administration, the agents misrepresented the situation and claimed they were conducting a missing person search, when in reality they were there to detain the student.
The incident occurred when agents from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrived at a Columbia building and requested to speak with a particular student. The agents allegedly told university staff that they were searching for a missing person, but failed to provide any evidence to support this claim.
In a statement, Columbia University officials said that the agents made misrepresentations in order to gain access to the student, who was then detained by the agents on campus. The university condemned the agents' actions, stating that they violated the trust between the school and its students.
