Commerce Chief Summoned to Congress Over Epstein Links

The US commerce secretary will testify before Congress about his ties to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, weeks after admitting to visiting Epstein's private island.
Washington, D.C. - The United States Commerce Secretary, Wilbur Ross, has agreed to voluntarily testify before Congress about his connections to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. This development comes just weeks after Ross acknowledged that he had visited Epstein's private island in the Caribbean.
The announcement was made by the House Oversight and Reform Committee, which stated that Ross will appear before the panel to answer questions regarding his relationship with Epstein and any potential conflicts of interest. The committee's chairwoman, Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., said that lawmakers are seeking to understand the full extent of Ross' ties to the disgraced businessman, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
