Congress Debates Limits on Trump's Power Over Iran Military Actions

Democrats and some Republicans are pushing for a vote to curb President Trump's unilateral use of military force against Iran, despite previous efforts failing to advance.
As the battle between the U.S. and Iran escalates, Congress is preparing to vote on a resolution aimed at limiting President Trump's authority to take military action against the Islamic Republic. The move comes despite previous attempts to rein in the President's war powers, which have failed to gain traction.
Senator Tim Kaine, a Democrat from Virginia, is leading the charge, arguing that the President must seek Congressional approval before engaging in further hostilities with Iran. Kaine and other lawmakers contend that the 2001 and 2002 authorizations for the use of military force, which have been cited by the administration to justify actions against Iran, do not apply to the current situation.
