In the aftermath of deadly clashes between security forces and pro-Iran protesters in Pakistan, the government has called in the army and ordered a 3-day curfew in several areas of the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region. The violence erupted following demonstrations over the killing of Iranian leader Qassem Soleimani by a US drone strike.
According to officials, at least 24 people were killed and dozens more injured in the unrest, which saw protesters clash with police and security forces. The situation has prompted authorities to deploy troops to the affected areas and impose a strict curfew to maintain order.
