Just a month earlier, Rahman had been dragged from her car by ICE agents, a traumatic experience that prompted her to accept Omar's invitation to the event. As Rahman explained to The Guardian, attending the State of the Union was an opportunity for her to engage with legislators and gain a deeper understanding of the political process, despite not being directly involved in policy work or organizing.
