Displaced Lebanese Cautiously Return Home After Cease-Fire

As the fragile cease-fire in Lebanon is tested, thousands of displaced residents cautiously begin returning to their homes in the south after days of intense conflict.
Thousands of displaced Lebanese residents have started returning to their homes in the south of the country as a fragile cease-fire continues to be tested following days of intense fighting between Hezbollah militants and Israeli forces.
The conflict, which began on July 12th when Hezbollah militants captured two Israeli soldiers, has resulted in the deaths of over 750 Lebanese, mostly civilians, and 159 Israelis, mostly soldiers. With the cease-fire now in place, many Lebanese who had fled their homes are cautiously making their way back, assessing the damage and beginning the long process of rebuilding their lives.
Ali Nasreddine, a 42-year-old farmer, was one of the first to return to the southern village of Aita al-Shaab.
