Surrey police say they have not found any evidence to support claims of a gang rape in Epsom, despite protests over the alleged attack on a woman in her 20s.
Surrey police have stated that they have not found any evidence to support the reported claims of a gang rape incident in Epsom. The alleged attack was said to have occurred on April 11th, between 2am and 4am, after a woman in her 20s left the Labyrinth Epsom nightclub.
Police launched an investigation following the reports, which had prompted protests in the town. However, Sarah Grahame, the assistant chief constable at Surrey police, has now revealed that the force has been unable to uncover any evidence of the offence as originally reported.
The alleged incident was said to have taken place outside a Methodist church, with claims that the woman was raped and attacked by a group of men. Despite the seriousness of the accusations, police have stated that their inquiries have not substantiated the details of the reported crime.
