Ex-DHS Chief Accused of Perjury Over Adviser's Influence

US Senator Blumenthal seeks perjury probe into former DHS Secretary Noem, alleging she lied about her senior adviser Lewandowski's role in agency contracts.
Former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem is facing a potential perjury investigation after a US Senator accused her of lying to Congress about the influence her senior adviser, Corey Lewandowski, had over the agency's contracts.
Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Connecticut Democrat and ranking member on the Senate's permanent subcommittee on investigations, said he would push the panel to look into whether Noem committed perjury at a hearing this week. Blumenthal alleged that Noem flatly denied Lewandowski had played any role in approving DHS spending, despite evidence Democrats claim proves otherwise.
