Exposing Putin's Primary School Propaganda: The Bafta-Winning Teacher's Story

A Bafta and Oscar-nominated documentary reveals the shocking propaganda tactics used in a Russian primary school, leaving the teacher in exile. Explore the undercover film's impact.
Grenade-throwing contests replaced physical education, and denazification speeches became homework assignments at Karabash School No 1. This was the reality exposed by Pavel Talankin's undercover documentary, Mr Nobody Against Putin, which won a Bafta and is tipped for an Oscar.
Talankin, a teacher at the school, risked everything to film the indoctrination tactics being used on his students. His undercover footage has left him in exile, as Russian state media and officials at the school and in the Kremlin have attempted to ignore the film's existence.
Despite the backlash, Talankin's award-winning documentary has shed light on the shocking propaganda being used to brainwash young minds in Putin's Russia. Pupils at Karabash School No 1 have had to source bootlegged copies to view the film in private, as the school and government refuse to acknowledge it.
