Controversial Former Home Affairs Boss Sacked After Reckless Conduct Exposed

Confidential report finds Michael Pezzullo breached government code of conduct, used power for personal benefit in dealings with Liberal powerbroker.

Former Home Affairs secretary Michael Pezzullo was found to have acted recklessly and exceeded the boundaries of normal public service practice in his engagement with a Liberal powerbroker, according to a previously unreleased confidential report obtained through freedom of information.

The independent probe, which led to Pezzullo's sacking in November 2023, concluded that he had breached the government's code of conduct at least 14 times. This included using his power for personal benefit.
