Former NSW MP Accused of Underage Sex Abuse Claims Victim Lied About Age
Ex-politician Rory Amon pleads not guilty to 10 charges of sexual acts with a 13-year-old, claiming the boy said he was 17 years old at the time.
Former state Liberal MP Rory Amon, 36, has taken the stand in his New South Wales supreme court trial, pleading not guilty to 10 charges for various sexual acts against a 13-year-old boy in 2017. Amon claims the young teen told him he was 17 years old at the time of the alleged incidents, which occurred in a car park toilet.
Amon's defense is that he reasonably believed the boy was of legal age when the sexual encounters took place. The former politician is accused of a range of charges, including sexual abuse of a minor, that could result in a lengthy prison sentence if convicted.
