Former Trump Cabinet Sec. Ryan Zinke Exits Montana House Race, Citing Health

Ryan Zinke, a Republican who served as Interior Secretary under President Trump, announces he will not seek re-election to the U.S. House from Montana due to health concerns.
Ryan Zinke, a Montana Republican who served as interior secretary during Donald Trump's first administration, said he would not seek re-election to a fifth term in the U.S. House, citing health concerns.
The decision gives Democrats an outside chance to pick up a House seat in a state that has veered to the right politically over the past decade. Zinke, a former Navy SEAL, had been viewed as a rising star in the GOP and was widely expected to seek higher office after his stint in Trump's Cabinet.
However, the 61-year-old former lawmaker said he was stepping away from politics to focus on his health. In a statement, Zinke said he had been diagnosed with a "serious medical condition" that would require extensive treatment and rehabilitation.
