Greek Neo-Nazi Party Leaders Convicted in Historic Ruling

A Greek appeals court has upheld the convictions of Golden Dawn's leadership for operating a criminal organization, affirming a landmark 2020 decision.
In a historic move, a Greek appeals court has upheld the convictions of the leaders of the far-right Golden Dawn party, confirming their roles in leading a criminal organization. The 2020 ruling, which found the party's leadership guilty of running a criminal enterprise, has now been affirmed, sending a powerful message about the consequences of extremism in the country.
The case, which was the largest trial of Nazi-inspired fascists in Europe since World War II, saw 68 members of Golden Dawn convicted, including the party's founder and long-time leader, Nikos Michaloliakos, as well as other high-ranking officials. The party, which had been represented in the Greek parliament, was found to have orchestrated violent attacks against immigrants, left-wing activists, and others deemed enemies of their fascist ideology.
