Harvard's Ex-President Resigns Amid Epstein Files Probe

Former Harvard president Larry Summers to step down after university review of documents tied to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Harvard University has announced that former president Larry Summers will resign from his teaching position at the end of the current academic year. The news comes in the wake of an ongoing university review of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which were recently released by the government.
In a statement, Harvard spokesman Jason Newton said the resignation is "in connection with the ongoing review by the University of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein that were recently released by the government." The nature of the documents and their connection to Summers' tenure as Harvard president from 2001 to 2006 remains unclear.
Summers, who also served as U.S. Treasury Secretary under President Clinton, has faced scrutiny over his association with Epstein, who maintained financial ties to the university even after his 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. The recent release of Epstein-related files has prompted a reexamination of Harvard's relationship with the disgraced financier during Summers' presidency.
