Houthis Claim Missile Attack on Israel's Ben Gurion Airport
Yemeni Houthi rebels say they carried out a cluster missile strike on Israel's main international airport, raising tensions in the volatile region.
In a major escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for a strike on Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport in Jaffa. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea stated that the group had targeted the airport with a cluster missile attack.
The Houthis, who have been engaged in a bitter civil war against the Saudi-backed Yemeni government, have long threatened to expand their attacks beyond the borders of Yemen. This latest incident marks a significant broadening of the conflict and raises serious concerns about the potential for further destabilization in the region.
According to Sarea, the missile strike was carried out in retaliation for Israel's continued support for the Saudi-led coalition fighting against the Houthis in Yemen. The Houthis have long accused Israel of providing intelligence and other assistance to the coalition, although Israel has denied these allegations.
