Hungarian PM Threatens to Halt Oil Shipments to Ukraine as Tensions Flare

Hungary's Prime Minister Orbán vows to use 'every means' to end dispute with Ukraine over blocked Russian oil supplies, as the crisis escalates.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has threatened to halt oil shipments to Ukraine as a row over stalled Russian oil supplies escalates between the two countries. Orbán has vowed to use 'every means' at his disposal to resolve the dispute, raising concerns about the potential impact on Ukraine's energy security.
The Hungarian tax authority has confirmed it has detained seven people and two cash-in-transit vehicles coming from Austria towards Ukraine, stating that it is pursuing criminal proceedings on suspicion of money laundering. The contents of the vehicles have also been confirmed as per an earlier statement by Ukraine's state-owned Oschadbank.
This latest development comes as tensions continue to simmer between Hungary and Ukraine over the issue of Russian oil supplies. Orbán has long maintained a close relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and has been criticized for his reluctance to fully condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
