Idaho Bans Transgender Bathroom Access in Private Businesses

New Idaho law prohibits transgender individuals from using bathrooms in private businesses that don't match their birth sex, expanding on previous restrictions for public schools.
Idaho has passed a new law that significantly expands restrictions on transgender individuals' ability to use bathrooms in the state. The law, which was signed by Republican Governor Brad Little, extends regulations previously limited to public schools to now cover virtually all public restrooms, including those in private businesses.
Under the new law, transgender people in Idaho are prohibited from using bathroom facilities that do not correspond with the sex listed on their birth certificate. This means that transgender women would be barred from using women's restrooms, and transgender men would be barred from using men's restrooms, in any public accommodations across the state.
