Lucky Winner Scores €1M Picasso Painting in Charity Draw

A charity draw organizer reveals the winner of a €1M Picasso painting initially thought the win was a scam. Learn the surprising story behind this once-in-a-lifetime art prize.
The winner of a €1 million Picasso painting in a charity draw was so stunned by the news that they initially believed it was a scam, according to one of the event's organizers. In an interview with BBC Radio 4's Front Row, the organizer recounted the extraordinary moment they called the lucky ticket holder to inform them of their life-changing win.
The drawing, organized by the Spanish charity Entidad Autónoma de Mercados y Asuntos Taurinos (EMAT), offered the Pablo Picasso painting Buste de Femme as the top prize. With only 50,000 tickets sold at €100 each, the odds of winning the valuable artwork were remarkably slim.
