Mamdani Administration Seeks to Drop Former Mayor Eric Adams from Assault Lawsuit

New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani's administration aims to stop representing ex-mayor Eric Adams in a decades-old sexual assault case, citing lack of public defense entitlement.
Mamdani administration is moving to drop Eric Adams, the former mayor of New York City, from a lawsuit alleging he sexually assaulted a woman more than three decades ago. According to a court filing on Tuesday, the current city administration argues that Adams is not entitled to a publicly-funded defense for the alleged 1993 incident.
The move comes just a few months after Zohran Mamdani took office as the new mayor of New York City, following a bitter campaign season that saw the two Democrats trade barbs and criticize each other repeatedly.
