Minister Faces Probe for Smearing Journalists, Late Donation Disclosure

UK Cabinet Office minister Josh Simons investigated for commissioning PR firm to target journalists who reported on £730K in undeclared Labour donations he oversaw. Simons made late declaration of personal gifts.
UK Cabinet Office Minister Josh Simons is facing a probe by the Prime Minister's independent adviser on ministerial standards over his alleged role in commissioning a PR agency to examine journalists who had written about £730,000 in undeclared donations to Labour Together, a thinktank he previously led.
Simons has now made a late declaration of personal donations, failing to do so within the stipulated 28 days of receiving the gifts. This latest development comes as the minister is already under investigation for his reported efforts to target and smear journalists who covered the undeclared donations to the Labour party.
