Ugandan forces conducted a major rescue operation, freeing over 200 people including a 14-year-old girl from an Allied Democratic Forces camp in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In a significant operation, Ugandan forces have liberated more than 200 people, including a 14-year-old girl, from an Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) camp in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The ADF is an Islamist rebel group with ties to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization.
According to the Ugandan army, the rescue mission was carried out in the Ituri province of the DRC, an area that has been plagued by violence from the ADF and other armed groups. The youngest person freed from the ADF camp was a 14-year-old girl, underscoring the dire situation faced by those trapped under the militant group's control.
