Pentagon Gives Scouts 6-Month Deadline to Prove Commitment to Diversity

The Defense Department warns the Scouts organization to address diversity, equity, and inclusion concerns or risk losing Pentagon ties.
In a dramatic move, the Pentagon has put the Scouts organization, formerly known as the Boy Scouts, on notice regarding its policies and practices around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has given the Scouts a 6-month deadline to demonstrate their commitment to these issues, or face the potential loss of the Pentagon's support and relationship.
Hegseth, in a video posted to the social media platform X, delivered a stern message to the Scouts, stating that the organization's girl-centered policies and approach to DEI would be closely evaluated over the next six months. The Defense Secretary warned that the Pentagon would thoroughly assess its ongoing partnership with the Scouts and determine whether to continue the relationship based on the organization's actions and progress during this period.
