A powerful magnitude 5.7 earthquake rocked a rural area of Nevada on Monday, with the epicenter located just east of the state's capital, Carson City. The temblor hit shortly before 6:30 pm local time, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake's epicenter was situated approximately 12.9 miles (20.7km) east of the town of Silver Springs, at a depth of 3.1 miles (5km). Videos captured in the nearby town of Fallon showed the impact of the shaking, with shattered glass and scattered groceries lining the aisles of a local supermarket.
