Serbia's Ruling Party Faces Tighter Margins in Local Elections

Serbia's ruling SNS party wins local elections, but with narrowing margins, suggesting a shifting political landscape and growing momentum for anti-government protests.
The latest local elections in Serbia have once again seen victories for the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), but the party's dominance appears to be slipping. While the SNS secured wins in several key municipalities, the margins of victory were often razor-thin, suggesting a shifting political landscape in the country.
Narrowing Margins Indicate Growing Opposition
In the capital city of Belgrade, the SNS candidate won by a mere 300 votes, a far cry from the party's previous landslide victories in the city. Similarly, in other municipalities such as Nis and Kragujevac, the SNS won by margins of just a few hundred votes, highlighting the growing momentum of opposition parties and the increasing dissatisfaction with the ruling party.
