Somali Americans Fearful as ICE and Influencers Target Ohio Community

Somali Americans in Ohio face harassment from ICE and right-wing 'influencers' after Trump's racist rhetoric, leading to fear and unease in the community.
Somali Americans in Ohio are living in fear as they face increased harassment from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and right-wing influencers following President Trump's repeated use of racist language against the group in December.
The situation escalated in late December when men began showing up at a Somali-owned daycare facility in Columbus as early as 6 am, circling the building in their cars. They then parked in front of the daycare, opening their windows just enough to shout at the owners: "We're exposing all of you. Every single one of you, you're all going back."
This incident is part of a broader crackdown on the Somali American community, with ICE launching "Operation Buckeye" to target the group. Additionally, right-wing influencers have been claiming that Somalis are running fraudulent businesses, further stoking fear and unease in the community.
