Spotlight on Local SEND Support: Ofsted & CQC Unveil New Inspection Guidance

Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission announce new thematic visits to assess the 'local offer' for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Comprehensive guidance aims to improve service delivery.
Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have just unveiled guidance for the next round of area SEND thematic visits. These targeted inspections will take a deep dive into how local authorities and partner organizations are supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The visits are part of a broader effort to evaluate the effectiveness of the 'local offer' - the range of services and support available to SEND students and their families within a given region. By closely examining how well these vital resources are being delivered, the Ofsted and CQC teams aim to identify areas for improvement and share best practices across the country.
