Starmer Vows to Confront Social Media Giants Over Child Screen Addiction

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer pledges to take on social media companies in effort to limit children's screen time and protect them from digital addiction.
In a move to address the growing concerns over children's excessive screen time and digital addiction, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has vowed to take on social media firms and fight to protect young people from the harmful effects of prolonged mobile, tablet, and TV use.
Starmer's pledge comes as the government launched new official screen-time guidance developed by a panel led by the Children's Commissioner, Rachel de Souza, and children's health expert, Prof Russell Viner. The guidelines recommend that children under the age of five should spend no more than one hour per day on screens, and for children under two, screen time should be avoided entirely except for shared activities.
