Top UK Pro-Palestine Activists Convicted of Protest Violations

Two prominent British activists, Ben Jamal and Chris Nineham, found guilty of failing to comply with protest conditions in 2025. Judge rules restrictions were lawful and necessary.
In a controversial verdict, two leading figures in the UK's Palestine solidarity movement have been found guilty of breaching protest conditions. Ben Jamal, the 62-year-old director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), and Chris Nineham, the 63-year-old vice-chair of the Stop the War Coalition, were accused of failing to comply with restrictions imposed on a demonstration on January 18, 2025. They were subsequently charged with public order offences.
The judge presiding over the case ruled that the conditions imposed on the protest were lawful and necessary, despite claims from the activists that the measures unfairly infringed on their right to free expression. Jamal and Nineham had argued that the restrictions, which included limits on the location and duration of the demonstration, were unjustified and disproportionate.

However, the court found that the authorities had acted appropriately in order to maintain public order and safety. The verdict has sparked outrage among supporters of the Palestinian cause, who view the convictions as a crackdown on legitimate political dissent.
