Trumpeting False Promises: Can Trump Bring Peace to Iran?

Skeptical analysis of Trump's claims that he can bring peace and stability to Iran, with historical context on his involvement in the Middle East.
If anyone thinks Donald Trump can bomb peace, stability, and women's rights into the Middle East, they may be in for a rude awakening. Judging by his disastrous role in Gaza, it's highly doubtful the former U.S. president can achieve any lasting positive impact in Iran.
Trump recently claimed that Keir Starmer, the leader of the U.K. opposition, has damaged the special relationship between the U.S. and U.K. by not helping him more in the U.S.-Israel war on Iran. However, one must remember that when Trump does receive help, he often pretends it never happened and even disrespects the war dead. The idea of the U.S. trying to sell another Middle Eastern war to the world is certainly an enticing proposition.

As military theorist Carl von Clausewitz once said, "War is the realm of uncertainty." And in the case of the Trump administration, that uncertainty seems to be amplified. Pete Hegseth, the U.S. defense secretary, appears to have an unwavering certainty about his positions, even when they conflict with each other. It's a worrying sign that Hegseth, Marco Rubio, and JD Vance already seem to have different rationales for why this war was launched.

This administration came to power on an America First platform, but its actions in the Middle East suggest a different agenda. Trump's promises of bringing peace and equality to Iran should be taken with a grain of salt, especially given his track record in the region. If he can truly achieve such feats, he may be able to sell a bridge - but the likelihood of that seems slim.
