In a recent statement to the UN Security Council, the UK's Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Archie Young, called for an immediate cessation of hostilities as the only viable solution to the current crisis.
Addressing the council, Ambassador Young emphasized the urgent need for all parties involved in the conflict to engage in meaningful political dialogue to resolve the ongoing crisis. He stressed that the cessation of hostilities is the critical first step towards achieving a lasting peace in the war-torn nation.
The UK's top diplomat at the UN highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in South Sudan, where millions of people are facing food insecurity, displacement, and a breakdown of basic services. He called on the international community to increase aid and support for the people of South Sudan, who have suffered immensely due to the prolonged conflict.
