Moscow - In a surprise move, Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine for the Orthodox Easter holiday. The 36-hour truce is set to begin on the evening of April 22nd, the start of the Easter weekend.
This comes after repeated calls from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for a ceasefire, particularly during religious holidays. However, Russia has continuously rejected such proposals in the past, only engaging in short, unilateral ceasefires as it insists on a permanent political solution to the conflict.
