Ukraine War Anniversary: Nobel Laureate's Reflections

Nobel Peace Prize winner Oleksandra Matviichuk shares insights on Russia's invasion of Ukraine and calls for increased U.S. action to end the conflict.
Ukraine's Nobel Peace Prize laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk is reflecting on the one-year anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of her country, and whether the United States can do more to help bring an end to the devastating war.
Matviichuk, the head of the Center for Civil Liberties, was awarded the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize in 2022 for her organization's efforts to document human rights abuses and war crimes committed during the conflict. In a recent interview, she shared her perspective on the status of the war and the role the U.S. can play going forward.
Despite the immense challenges and suffering inflicted by the Russian invasion, Matviichuk remains steadfast in her commitment to human rights and the rule of law. She believes that ultimately, Ukraine will prevail, but only with sustained international support and pressure on the Kremlin.
