US Political Leaders' 'Racist Hate Speech' Sparking Human Rights Violations, UN Warns

UN experts disturbed by Trump and other US leaders' use of dehumanizing language targeting migrants, leading to 'grave human rights violations'.
The United Nations' committee on the elimination of racial discrimination (CERD) has issued a non-binding decision expressing deep concern over the growing use of racist hate speech by US political leaders, including President Trump, and the country's intensified crackdowns on migration.
In their statement, the panel of 18 independent experts called on the US to uphold its obligations as a signatory to the international convention on combating racism and discrimination. The CERD said they were deeply disturbed by the increasing use of derogatory and dehumanizing language, as well as harmful stereotypes, being employed to target migrants, including refugees and asylum seekers.
