Venezuela Opposition Leader Forges Surprising Ties With Spain's Right

Venezuela's pro-democracy activist María Corina Machado reaches across the aisle to partner with Spain's conservative politicians, despite stark differences on social issues.
Venezuela's leading opposition figure, María Corina Machado, has forged an unexpected alliance with Spain's right-wing political forces, despite their divergent stances on social issues. Analysts say the two camps are finding common ground in their shared economic policies and opposition to the Maduro government in Caracas.
Machado, a prominent pro-democracy activist, has long been a thorn in the side of Venezuela's socialist government, leading street protests and advocating for a return to democratic rule. In a surprising move, she has now reached out to Spain's conservative politicians, including members of the Popular Party and the upstart Vox party.
