Venezuela Unveils Mining Revamp After US Officials Visit

Venezuela's president pledges mining industry reforms following meeting with US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum in Caracas, signaling a potential shift in US-Venezuela relations.
In a move that could mark a shift in US-Venezuela relations, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has announced plans to reform the country's mining industry during a visit from US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. The high-level meeting in Caracas came as Venezuela grapples with an economic crisis exacerbated by years of sanctions and political turmoil.
According to Maduro, the discussions with Burgum centered on boosting mining production and exports, a critical part of Venezuela's economy. "We've had a very good, very respectful, and very constructive meeting," Maduro said, adding that the two sides agreed to establish a "mining commission" to oversee the reforms.
