Whistleblower Alleges Former SSA Employee Took Sensitive Data to New Job

A whistleblower complaint claims that John Solly, an IT specialist accused of having DOGE ties, took sensitive Social Security data with him when he left the SSA to join defense contractor Leidos.
John Solly, an IT specialist with alleged ties to the DOGE cryptocurrency movement, has been accused of taking highly sensitive Social Security Administration (SSA) data with him when he left the agency to join defense contractor Leidos. A whistleblower complaint alleges that Solly claimed to have stored the data, which included personal information from millions of Americans, on a thumb drive.
Solly and Leidos have both strongly denied the allegations, with Leidos stating that it has found no evidence that Solly brought any SSA data to the company. The Office of the Inspector General at the SSA is currently investigating the matter.
According to the whistleblower complaint, Solly had access to a vast trove of sensitive data during his time at the SSA, including Social Security numbers, birthdates, and other personally identifiable information. The complaint alleges that Solly boasted about his ability to access this data and his plans to take it with him to his new job at Leidos.
