Ofsted Pilots Using More School Leaders as Inspectors

Ofsted launches new program to leverage expertise of current school and college leaders in inspections, aiming to boost inspection quality and real-world insights.
Ofsted, the education watchdog in England, has announced the launch of a new pilot program that will involve more serving school and college leaders as inspectors. The goal of this initiative is to leverage the real-world expertise and perspectives of current education professionals to enhance the quality and relevance of Ofsted's inspections.
According to the announcement, the pilot will bring in experienced school and college leaders to participate in Ofsted inspections, alongside the organization's existing cadre of inspectors. This approach is designed to provide a more nuanced and up-to-date view of the challenges and best practices within the education sector, as opposed to relying solely on former leaders or career inspectors.
"We believe that by involving more serving education professionals in our inspection process, we can gain valuable insights that will help us better identify areas for improvement and share effective practices across the sector," said Amanda Spielman, Ofsted's Chief Inspector. "This pilot is an important step in our ongoing efforts to make our inspections as relevant and impactful as possible."
